New Home Areas in and Around Barrie
Barrie's newest neighbourhoods are in the south end, in the annexed lands near Barrie South GO and Highway 400. Just north, Midhurst in Springwater is planned for significant growth. To the south, Bradford West Gwillimbury and Innisfil sit closer to York Region, and Alliston lies to the west.

Commuting From Simcoe County
Highway 400 is the main link south, and traffic near the York border is a real factor at peak times. The Barrie GO line runs from Allandale Waterfront and Barrie South through Bradford to Union, with service levels that vary by time of day.

Winter driving is part of the picture too. Simcoe County gets more snow than most of the GTA, especially near Georgian Bay and Lake Simcoe, so factor in travel time on bad days, not just good ones.
