New Home Areas in Whitby and Oshawa
In Whitby, growth is focused in Brooklin and the lands north of Taunton Road. In Oshawa, the north end around Windfields and the areas near Ontario Tech University and Durham College are building freehold towns and detached homes. Courtice, in Clarington, continues the pattern east.

Most new Durham homes are freehold townhomes, semi-detached and detached homes, with a smaller number of condos and stacked towns near Highway 2 and the GO stations. Lot sizes, garage types and basement finishes vary a lot between builders, so compare the included features line by line rather than the headline price.
Highways and GO in Durham
Highway 401 runs along the lake, while Highway 407 East, Highway 412 and Highway 418 connect the north end of Whitby and Oshawa to it. Brooklin has quick access to the 407.
The Lakeshore East GO line serves Whitby and Oshawa stations, and a planned extension would add stations further east. Toll costs on the 407 can add up, so include them in the commute cost calculator.
